Total Growth is a discipleship program facilitated by Rev. Paul Chan for some 30 years. It is for people who desire to:

  • Deepen their faith in prayer and Bible study beyond the clichés.
  • Cultivate an authentic Christian walk with other believers.
  • Share their lives in a vulnerable and honest manner.

About "Total Growth" Discipleship Program

  • Is Intensive as it is Extensive – a total of 31 sessions of about 2½ hours each. One half of each session would be for whole group review and discussions while in the other half, we would have further discussions and sharing in separate men's and women's subgroups.
  • Requires Commitment for the entire course – you have to sign a covenant to attend every session except in the case of an emergency. Requires setting aside a minimum of one-hour self-study daily in addition to your personal devotion times.
  • Makes you Read – there are required readings from some excellent books, not necessarily intellectually sophisticated, but spiritually insightful.
  • Is Not Free – While there are no fees for this course, it will require $300 of investment in required books (consider it like building your own library) plus the cost for a two-night weekend retreat.
  • Is Rewarding – many people have used it and found it made an impact to their spiritual lives
  • Covers: Relevant Subjects which include a More Meaningful Prayer Life, a Deepen Understanding of Scriptures, Building Christian Marriage/ Parenting/Relationships, Servant Leadership, Evangelism/ Missions & Towards a Biblical Work View.

WE STRENGTHEN FAITH THAT LASTS

Total Growth is more than just a curriculum. Alumni have all expressed that they have built lasting spiritual habits, as well as having a sustained group of brothers or sisters to hold them accountable to face their daily challenges grounded in their intimacy with Christ.

After experiencing God's goodness and peace in the previous "Total Growth Prayer Retreat," I joined again this year, leaving behind the distractions and comforts of home, longing to seek God more closely.

Despite cloudy and rainy weather, Pastor Chan falling ill and losing his voice, and less-than-ideal facilities, I thank God for His Grace—it didn't hinder our closeness to Him, or the love among brothers and sisters. I again tasted His goodness and the sweetness of fellowship. Group sharing was deep and Spirit-filled, touching my heart.

This retreat allowed me to draw close to God, cleanse myself, and be taught to take my relationship with God more seriously. It helped me get back on track. I also built friendships with sisters—supporting one another, caring for one another, and praying for each other. That's one of the greatest takeaways from this camp.

「全⼈成長」⼩組⾨徒訓練課程由陳明斌牧師親⾃或在網上主領多年，適合：

  • 那些渴望⾃⼰的禱告／靈修⽣活能與神有更親密關係的信徒
  • 並願意與其他基督徒以坦誠且不保留的⽅式分享彼此的信徒⽣活
  • 以建立關係的⽅式 ⼀同學習真正的基督徒⽣活並且學習活出神在他們
    ⾝上的旨意。

認識 《全人成長》 門徒訓練課程

  • 既是深入的，也是廣泛的──總共 31 次課程，每次約 2.5 ⼩時。每次聚會的⼀半時間將⽤於全部弟兄和姊妹⼀起溫習與討論，另⼀半時間則安排弟兄和姊妹分組進⾏更深入的討論與分享。
  • 需要全程投入──你必須簽署⼀份
    承諾書，保證參加每⼀次聚會（注意：除緊急情況以外最多只能夠缺席四次）。此外，除了個⼈的靈修時間外，還需每天⾄少預留⼀⼩時作為⾃修。
  • 促使你閱讀──其中包括⼀些優秀書籍的必讀篇⽬；這些書未必在智識上多麼深奧，卻蘊含著深刻的靈性洞⾒。
  • 並非免費──雖然不收取課程學費，
    但您需要投入 $300 加元（或 $250 美元）購買指定教材（不妨將其視
    為建立個⼈藏書！），此外還需承擔⼀次安排在週末兩晚禱告靜修營的費⽤。

全⼈成長⾨訓事⼯希望透過提供全⾯且有效的資源，並且充分利⽤我們近 30 年的⾨徒訓練經驗來幫助教會⼀同培育不只是⽣命被更新的基督徒，更是願意走進⽣活每個場域，實際帶出屬靈影響⼒的⼀群⼈。

「全⼈成長」（Total Growth / TG）不只是⼀套課程。許多TG 學員都分享，他們不僅建立了能夠長久維持的屬靈操練，也能與⼀群能彼此守望、互相提醒的弟兄姊妹結連，在每天⾯對各樣挑戰時，都能扎根於與基督親密的關係中，⼀起同⾏。

在我所認識的門訓課程中，《全人成長─門徒訓練小組課程》是最有效的。它成功之處，除了課材資料之實用，更在於小組承擔與交代的著重。課程完結後的多年，不少組員仍繼續有承擔與交代的經常團契。我極力推薦凡欲舉辦門徒訓練課程的教會或小組採用這課程。

參加這個門訓課程是個重大的「承諾」：每周定時跟組員聚會、閱讀書本、完成作業等等都需時間和心力，還要不影響家庭生活和事業。然而我經歷到神不斷的祝福。我最得益的是明白何謂「家庭的頭」。現在屆將初為人父之際，我會重讀《爸爸領導學》這書。我要建立一個合神心意的家庭。靠著神的恩典，我要成為妻子和孩子的屬靈領導。同時我也學到在建立事業時要堅守誠信和神的教導，不被試探所勝。我還有很長的屬靈路要走。感謝神，我並不孤單。我有同組的弟兄與屬靈的長者與我同行，互相扶持、承擔和代禱。我明白及尋找到我的人生使命和職份。

小組內弟兄透過互相承擔與交代生活上的難處來彼此勉勵，幫助了我遠離每天常犯的罪，又決心地建立了每天靈修的習慣。當我在懷疑自己工作的價值時，課 程又讓我看到自己在職場的位份。整個《全人成長》的課程讓我監察自己生命每一個層面的不足，而重新立志靠着主改變自己的生命，讓我獲益良多。

在這九個月的課程裏，神改變了我的人生價值觀，教我不再看重人所看重的地位、權勢、金錢、成就，而要看重神所看重的-人的品格，敬畏和愛神的心，和永恒的事物。讓我得着最深的是「建立更合神心意的家庭」的單元。作為一個全職母親，我常覺得自己的工作是十分沉悶，沒出色，浪費了我的學位。但現在我知道這份工作是神給我的一個重大使命-學習每天享受和兒女一起的時間，有智慧和有創意地和他們分享聖經的真理。更求神幫助我成為他們的好榜樣。

Rev. Paul Chan

Pastor Paul had been an accountant for 21 years before he received his call into full-time gospel ministry which he began at VCBC as an intern student and later served as one of the pastors. He received his seminary/theological training at both Regent College and Eastern Baptist Seminary (now called Palmer Theological Seminary). Through serving in both Canadian and Chinese churches, he has developed a passion for discipling marketplace Christians, seeking to walk alongside them in learning to put their faith in practice and to draw closer to God in a meaningful way. Toward this end, he has founded the Total Growth Christian Ministry and published discipleship workbooks in Chinese and English and written a 5-year Devotional Guide online and a Small Group Bible Study Guide online in English, Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese.

陳明斌牧師

陳明斌牧師在1991年蒙召作牧者前是執業會計師，並在工商界出任行政管理職務和經商二十多年。蒙召後先後進入維真和東浸神學院進修，並完成碩士和博士課程。在退休前曾在溫哥華市中心第一浸信會和華人主恩堂作牧者，並曾任美國中國信徒佈道總幹事。退休後亦曾協助加洲灣區恩信華人宣道會（英語事工）和列治民真理堂作Interim牧者。因著昔日職場的背景，陳牧師有機會與不少職場的信徒同行，一起追求實踐信徒在家庭、職場、社區和教會生活中，從而產生《31星期全人成長門徒訓練小組課程》。同時為幫助信徒更有意義和有系統的操練每日禱告、讀經的靈修生活，亦在網上完成《五年靈修指引》。陳牧師與師母婉萍同有一子一女和四個可愛的孫兒。
